The spirit qi had gotten increasingly thick under the blood-colored night. The closer he got to a certain place, the thicker it became.
That was the place where the Spiritual Eye of the Spiritual Tide was that particular time.
That was also where the Spiritual Eye was that Lu Xuan remembered it to be, back when the world was being restored as such for the first time.
Lu Xuan would have required the Spiritual Eye if he were to make his next breakthrough. Great amounts of Spirit Qi would have been unleashed on that day of the Spiritual Tide. That would have allowed Lu Xuan to progress much faster than if he were to just train on his own.
At the moment, Lu Xuan's powers were far greater than it had been when he had just been reincarnated. He would have required a lot more Spirit Qi if he were to make the breakthrough in one shot.
Under normal circumstances, even if the world were to lose its shackles and a breakthrough at his level were permitted, he would have needed a good deal of time to make the breakthrough. Only using the Spirit Qi originating from the Spiritual Eye would allow him to break through to Level Nine in just a single night.
All manner of howls and growls of beasts were heard in the woods of Wuyi mountain.
Lu Xuan's expression became rather serious. The restoration that time differed from how it had been last. According to what he learned from his past life, that particular restoration of Spirit Qi was the turning point that threw the planet into an era of crazed cultivation.
It was the event that truly marked the coming of the great era.
It was also the golden age of cultivators.
Lu Xuan finally reached somewhere near the Spiritual Eye after rushing all the way. There were already living beings being around that Spiritual Eye at the moment.
That Spiritual Eye was located deep in the mountains, and no common folk would have been able to detect it. Yet, some beasts that were more sensitive, managing to sense its presence.
There had been bloody battles having taken place in the areas near the Spiritual Eye. Dead animals were seen everywhere, and the place was practically littered with bodies of beasts. Some of them were herbivores, while some others were carnivores. They were all beasts that were hardly seen, and they all had their throats torn off.
Lu Xuan cast his gaze far away. An incredibly huge rat that laid under the blood-colored moonlight, taking its time to absorb the Spirit Qi around the place.
A fissure was seen in the air that seemed to have come out of nowhere, not far away from the rat. That fissure was where Spirit Qi oozed out.
There were already dazzling lights vaguely shining through that fissure, and terrifying roars of ferocious beasts were heard as well.
It seemed as if some terrifying being was about to tear space apart and make it down to Earth.
That scene was extremely harrowing and ominous to behold.
It was apparent that the Spiritual Eye there had been taken over by that rat, which was already as huge as an average calf. It had a shiny black coat all over it, which seemed to be glittering as well.
All the bodies of those dead animals were probably the work of that rat, who managed to kill them with only a single bite each. It was apparent that the rat was the king of that area.
The fluctuations of its monstrous qi suggested that it was a Level Eight being, which meant that it was at Deity Level.
Such a beast would have been considered one that had achieved mastery in its cultivation efforts. In a certain manner of speaking, such beasts were no longer just beasts. One could consider them to be a monster in a conventional sense, whose intellectual capacity might even equal humans.
Monsters of such levels were considered lesser monsters back in Lu Xuan's past life at later stages, yet being able to get so far with its cultivation efforts while Spirit Qi had just begun to be restored to the world, had undoubtedly made it a greater monster. There were even greater monsters that would have terrorized a territory in later days, and most of them had been training since the current era.
The mutations of the world benefitted more than just humans, as there were many beasts that were met with mystical encounters as well. However, those beasts were keeping a low profile compared to humans.
Although their intellectual capacity had grown, they also learned of how terrifying human societies could be at the same time.
Regardless of how many mutated beasts there were, they were no match for human cultivators. As such, those monsters simply kept to themselves and endured, growing increasingly strong in the process.
That was what Lu Xuan learned back in his past life. Back then, humans fought with monsters as well, and the battles had never ceased. It had nothing to do with good and evil. It was just that different species were fighting for survival.
The planet had finite space. Humans wanted to live, and so did the monsters. That reason alone had been more than enough.
However, Lu Xuan quickly recalled that back in his past life, there had been a terrifying rat king back in Min Province, which had brought countless monster rats to terrorize the place, causing millions of human deaths.
That rat king had even been the cause of the western side of the province becoming an uninhabited wasteland. That rat king had been a far greater threat than some ultimate greater monster elsewhere.
Things had even taken a turn for the worse, for the rat king's lair was expanded deep underground. Even when humans went to the extent of bomb said lair using nuclear ordnance, they had only managed to kill countless conventional rats.
However, given how frighteningly quick rats breed, the rats were able to return to their original population within just a year or two. The rats had even mutated further due to the effects of nuclear radiation.
It was the Dragon who had led a group of fighters from the Special Task Force underground, and eventually managed to kill that rat king in a fight. That rat king's body, which had grown to the size of a hill, was dragged out of its lair eventually. That happening had caused quite a commotion.
"Don't tell me I'm seeing that thing in the flesh right now."
Lu Xuan had no idea if the being that became the fearsome rat king was the one that right in front of him.
"To hell with it. Best be safe than sorry!"
A cold glint was seen in Lu Xuan's eyes. He knew that the species he was about to deal with was actually far more dangerous than the others. Regardless of how ferocious the other species would have become, the threat that they had been able to pose was nonetheless small, due to their limited numbers.
Things were different from those rats, however, as there were just too many of them. Once they had a rat king among them, they would have easily become a force of nature.
That rat was sucking away Spirit Qi in a frenzy at that moment when it noticed Lu Xuan's presence. Their hairs on its body perked up in an instant, making it look like a hedgehog.
Blood-colored glint was seen in its eyes. The scene looked extremely perilous.
That animal darted at Lu Xuan like a loosed arrow in just a blink of an eye.
It was moving so fast that one would have only seen a shadow blitzing by.
It managed to get close to Lu Xuan in just an instant, throwing its mouth wide open and intending to chomp down on Lu Xuan's neck.
It was apparent that it was the first time it did so, as its movements were quick and unforgiving.
While that move had served the rat very well against all the other beasts, it was the mistake of its life for meeting and picking on Lu Xuan.
Lu Xuan was unlike anything those beasts had bitten to death before.
Lu Xuan lashed out with his hand as he shouted, "Crumbling Mountain!"
That palm attack hit the rat king squarely. The resulting force from that attack sent the rat king flying away like it had been hit by a wrecking ball.
It crashed to the ground and rolled for a few times before getting up.
A cold glint dazzled in Lu Xuan's eyes as he took note of just how strong the monsters were. If a human of his level were to be clapped by that attack he just pulled, they would have most probably stayed still on the ground instead.
