The Zerg had a large number of Hydralisks that were effective against air units, so they did not build any Spore Cannons that had anti-air and air-stealth functions. Therefore, when all the Overlords were eliminated from the battlefield, the Zerg instantly lost the ability to detect stealth units. Furthermore, the Zerg larvae could not hatch without the nutritional support of the Overlords, so the Zerg could no longer produce soldiers and send them into battle non-stop like they always did!
Uraki instantly saw the chance for victory! He immediately dispatched three Arbiters to the battlefield.
The energy reserves of the three Arbiters were almost completely exhausted, so they no longer had enough energy left to perform their signature 'Stasis Field' and 'Recall' skills. However, their perverse passive skill, 'Cloaking Field', which could make all nearby friendly units invisible by refracting light, could still be used as it did not require any energy!
Under such circumstances, the Zerg could only attack the Arbiters that were still visible, but the Arbiters could fly, and they were guarded by an astonishing amount of invisible units, so by the time the Arbiters were struck down, the Zerg's main army had also suffered heavy casualties and was almost wiped out.
The Zerg's defensive line completely collapsed after that!
The Protoss troops swept the Zerg base like a tidal wave and managed to destroy the Queen of Blades' hive before she came back! Victory was thus decided. Even if the Queen of Blades dared to join the battle now, it would be a futile sacrifice considering the vast amount of Protoss forces left.
After that, the Protoss started construction on a strange building on a piece of high ground behind the Zerg base. The building looked like an energy crystal, but dozens of times larger. It actually required the combined efforts of close to a hundred workers to build.
The Pandora crystals reserves were being consumed at an alarming rate. In the end, more than three thousand units of crystals and vespene gas were consumed. A building which looked like the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, but made of glowing crystals, was thus constructed.
Uraki ascended the tower that was several hundred meters high while bellowing a chant. A tall mountain in the distance suddenly collapsed from his chant, revealing a dark pyramidal object about three meters high within. The object looked like some kind of totem, but also like a marker.
But in Sheyan's eyes, it felt more like a tombstone that had been beaten by the weather for thousands of years. It represented the glory and brilliance that was once lost in the annals of history, hiding a strange, dark power!
Uraki's chant was not finished yet. Under his continuous chanting, rockslides occurred on two other mountain peaks in the distance, revealing two more of the strange object.
The three totems each occupied a corner. If one were to look down from a high place, they would see that the three totems formed an equilateral triangle which covered more than twenty square kilometers of land between them.
Uraki's chanting voice turned intense. Countless cracks started appearing on the pyramidal totems that had stood there unchanging for thousands of years, and would have probably continued thus for thousands of years if not for him. The surface layer of the totems fell off like ice that coated the surface of stones, revealing the smooth, golden shine, the signature sharp lines of Protoss design, and the tyrannical ferocity!!
Uraki's eyes, ears, mouth and nose were already overflowing with blue fluid, and his body swayed unsteadily, but he gritted his teeth and persevered.
The three pyramidal totems started shaking violently under the chant. Circular sonic waves that were almost visible to the naked eye spread outwards in all directions, one after another. The ground enclosed by the totems shook and split apart. Only one fissure was seen at first, but more and more started appearing after that, and they grew wider and wider. The ground then collapsed downwards like in a 12. 0 earthquake. The rising dust almost obscured the entire sky.... And when the dust settled, everyone held their breath!
The originally empty, barren ground had completely sunk down. There was now a gigantic depression hundreds of meters deep in the ground. In the middle of the depression was a magnificent Protoss city dozens of square kilometers in size. Many parts of the city had now been reduced to ruins and broken walls, but there were also many places that remained intact. Sheyan could even see various troops that were in the middle of advancing.
There was actually a city buried here!!
A grand, ancient Protoss city from a time when the Protoss were at the peak of their powers!!
From what Sheyan could see, the city seemed to be caught in the flames of a civil war, but for some reason, it had been frozen in time. Only now had it reappeared in front of others.
Uraki finally collapsed in exhaustion. There was an anxious and terrified look on his face. He seemed to be trying hard to say something, but that action only made the blue fluid in his mouth gush out faster. The moment he fell to the ground, he instantly turned into dots of blue light which dispersed with the wind.
The Protoss were now leaderless following the fall of Uraki, but a High Templar that had electric sparks all around him quickly took over Uraki's position and bellowed out a strong mental order:
"Advance, warriors of the Protoss race. Let us claim back our strength and glory of old!"
Following the command, the whole Protoss army dashed towards the ancient, magnificent city. But when they reached it, they found that the whole city was enclosed in an unbelievably thin layer of light. This light barrier must be the reason why the city seemed to be frozen in time.
Seeing the unidentified light barrier, the nearest Protoss troops stayed close to the city perimeter but did not open fire. They were awaiting further instructions from their superiors. Meanwhile, the rest of the Protoss army were still marching in, their procession spanning several kilometers long.
But at that instant, from the opposite side of the city, a dark cloud quickly approached from the horizon.
It was actually a group of more than 30 Overlords that had just hatched! Their movement speed had obviously been upgraded as well. The Protoss troops instantly circled around the large city to attack them, but the Overlords simply flew over the heads of the Protoss soldiers!
The Overlords started to release a great number of Zerg troops to the ground. Sheyan, who was watching from the distance, was shocked when he saw the troops the Overlords released.
They were blood-red monsters that were completely covered in flesh-like muscles, but upon a closer scrutiny, Sheyan could vaguely see human armour on them. From each of their backs grew a pair of tentacles that looked like skeletal wings.
These monsters were shockingly fast, like human Marines that had been injected with StimPacks. They charged into the light barrier, causing numerous violent explosions!!
They were one of the special unit types developed by the Zerg, the infested Terran suicide soldiers!
A Zerg Queen could infect the Command Center of a human base that had been badly damaged, infiltrating it with a parasitic biochemical toxin. Once the Command Center was fully infested, the Command Center's occupants could be turned into mindless suicide soldiers. The bodies of the infested suicide soldiers would become twisted and produce extremely unstable chemicals. As soon as they got close to an enemy, they could detonate their own bodies to release the terrifying power stored inside to destroy the enemy.
Based on game data, the damage dealt by an exploding suicide soldier was 500 points, the same as a nuclear missile! This showed how terrifying and destructive the suicide soldiers were!
There were at least 30 suicide soldiers, which means the light barrier had to withstand an impact that was equivalent to the bombardment of thirty nuclear missiles!
There was no doubt that these suicide soldiers were produced by the Queen of Blades after she conquered the human base abandoned by Pontin, which made Sheyan feel like he had dropped a large stone on his own foot. If it hadn't been for his suggestion to use the Queen of Blades to deal with their political enemies, the Queen of Blades would not have a Command Center to infest!
When the eleventh suicide soldier exploded on the light barrier, the barrier finally broke. It was hard to describe the situation at that instant. It felt like a super hurricane had suddenly swept across the land with terrifying force and speed!
Fortunately, the moment Sheyan noticed the suicide soldiers, he had immediately asked the Dropship he was on to land on a mountainside nearby. The mountain had blocked the horrifying shock wave for Sheyan with its thick body.
Otherwise, even if the transport ship was not blown to bits, it would probably be blown into outer space... Sheyan witnessed with his own eyes various large rocks that must have weighed hundreds of tons flying over his head like they were weightless. Based on their speed and trajectories, they would probably not land until they had flown dozens of kilometers away.
During the previous raid on the Zerg base, Pontin's air forces were under attack by Zerg units that had anti-air capabilities such as Hydralisks, so he had lost more than half of his forces. And in this horrible storm, more than a dozen Wraiths had disintegrated in the air after failing to heed the orders in time. The human army was now left with only four Wraiths and four Dropships that contained less than 60 Marines....
