Qingfeng Li quietly observed the dead body of the Desert General, which was lying in front of him. He had a feeling that the Desert Queen's number one underling would not be defeated so easily.
As he expected, the severed body of the Desert General started reforming. From the formerly shattered body, the sand had reassembled into a gigantic body that was three meters tall.
The Desert General laughed aloud as he glared at Qingfeng Li and said, "Human, I am immortal. All the sand in the Crimson Fire Desert is under my command. There is no way you can kill me."
Watching the arrogant opponent before him, Qingfeng Li only gave a small smile in silence.
Qingfeng Li had heard from his servant, the Desert Giant, that the entire Desert Giant race was derived from the golden-yellow sand in the Crimson Fire Desert.
The golden-yellow sand was adamantine, even more so than tier four meteorites, impossible to destroy. Nonetheless, everything had its weaknesses. For the golden-yellow sand, their two weaknesses were flames and thunderbolt.
Needless to say, to be effective against the golden-yellow sand, the flames must be of a scorching high temperature, unlike any common flames. The Golden Flames in Qingfeng Li's hands were perfect for this matter.
Glancing at the Desert General who stood before him, Qingfeng Li spoke, "I'll give you one chance. Succumb to me, and I will spare your life; if not, I will burn you to ashes in an instant."
The Desert General spread open its gigantic mouth and gave out roaring laughter. It glanced at Qingfeng Li in contempt, as it believed he did not understand its notorious reputation as the Desert Queen's number one underling throughout the entirety of the Crimson Fire Desert.
It was already one foot into the Sixth Level of the Supreme Realm; hence, it was invincible towards any common self-cultivators and human beings.
A few years ago, the Emperor of the country of Lingyun had come to the Crimson Fire Desert and had encountered the Desert General. The Emperor was defeated by it and was forced to retreat. The Desert General thought Qingfeng Li to be blissfully ignorant in claiming that he was capable of killing it. Indeed, it found his claim ridiculous.
The Desert General put together its two hands and smashed down. Its fist crashed into the ground and caused an enormous crack.
The crack continued to spread forward and eventually divided the desert and the air in halves. Surprisingly, the Desert General had also acquired a powerful technique - the Sky-Splitting Technique.
Qingfeng Li's brows furrowed as he became astonished. This was the first time he had encountered this type of strange attacks which could sever the ground and the air. It reminded him of the seventh fist of his own Strangle Hell Fist, just not as powerful.
Taking resolute and effective measures, Qingfeng Li immediately conducted the Golden Flames in his body, hoping to finish off the Desert General in one hit.
The Golden Flames were moving up and down between Qingfeng Li's fingers, like dancing pixies.
Using his index and middle finger, Qingfeng Li lightly pinched his palm and threw the flames forward forcefully. The Golden Flames instantly ripped through the air and burned down space, directly destroying the Sky-Splitting Technique launched by the Desert General into nothingness.
The Desert General's expression hardened as horror crossed its eyes - its biggest fear was high temperature flames.
As the number one underling of the Desert Queen, it certainly had its share of dealing with many different types of horrifying flames. For instance, the Fiery Supreme of the Fiery Desert had mastered a type of mighty flame and had once severely injured the Desert General.
If it weren't for the Desert Queen, the Desert General would have been killed back then. Therefore, when it saw that Qingfeng Li could utilize the Golden Flames, its face became pale, and its body started trembling. The next moment, it turned around, attempting to flee.
Sadly, the Golden Flames that were shot out by Qingfeng Li were travelling at an amazing speed, faster than speed of light and lightning, appearing right out of the void.
The Golden Flames instantaneously crashed into the body of the Desert General and started burning up the sand that made up its body. The burning generated loud crackling sounds and wisps of green smoke, as if beans were being fried.
The Desert General let out one shriek after another, as it was going through the painful torment of execution by fire.
Moments later, the Desert General had turned into grains of grey sand and fell onto the ground. It had become a pile of ashes.
The dozens of desert giants behind the Desert General had also been burned to death by Qingfeng Li's Golden Flames. They had become piles of drifting ashes as well.
Suddenly, Qingfeng Li's eyes narrowed. He had spotted some fist-sized golden sand underneath the remains of the Desert General.
Qingfeng Li frowned as he knew that the golden sand was no usual sand. Any sand that could survive the torching of his Golden Flames and still be in its original form would have to be at least in the saint level.
Also, Qingfeng Li knew that most of the time, treasures could be found on powerful supreme level masters. Otherwise, the attempt to achieve supreme level by solely using one's own strengths would be next to impossible and would require extremely rare giftedness.
For instance, Qingfeng Li had once found an Immortal spirit core on the dead body of the Mother of Vines; however, it was snatched up by the Chaos Millstone. Now, it was obvious that the grain of golden sand left behind after the Desert General had turned into ashes would not be anything ordinary.
At this moment, Qingfeng Li felt a fit of quivering behind him. As he turned around, he found his servant Desert Giant's eyes to be blazing in eagerness. Its body was shaking uncontrollably, as it looked as if it was looking at its most favorite thing in the world.
Qingfeng Li couldn't help but ask, "Sandie, what is this? Why are you so excited about it?"
"Sandie" was a nickname given to the Desert Giant by Qingfeng Li. Now that it was his servant, it was dead set on following Qingfeng Li.
Ever since it learned of Qingfeng Li's powerfulness, which was even more impressive and dominant than that of the Desert Queen's, The Desert Giant had decided to be a follower of Qingfeng Li for the rest of its life.
Suppressing its obvious arousal and excitement, the Desert Giant explained in a whisper, "Master, this is no ordinary golden sand - it is the spirit nucleus remaining after the death of the Saint of the the Desert Giant race. Only by acquiring it did the Desert General become the number one underling of the Desert Queen's. Yet, it was killed by you, so the saint level spirit core was left behind once again."
Qingfeng Li nodded as he came to understand the influential background of the golden sand which also confirmed his earlier suspicion.
Unfortunately, this egg-sized golden sand was left behind by the Saint of the Desert Giants. As Qingfeng Li was a human self-cultivator, he could not put it to use, nor absorb the vital essence inside it.
Qingfeng Li looked to the Desert Giant which was standing right next to him and asked, "Sandie, are you willing to follow me until the end of time?"
Plop! The Desert Giant kneeled down on the ground and started its pledge to Qingfeng Li, "I, the Desert Giant, Sandie, hereby swear I will follow Master until the end of my life. May lightning strike me dead if I ever forsake these words."
Qingfeng Li nodded his head slightly. He knew that the Desert Giant was immensely strong and could be of great help later on - especially after it had refined this Saint spirit core.
Qingfeng moved his body forward and directly held up the golden sand in his palms. He was startled by the surge of enormous saint energy he felt from within it.
He then passed the golden sand into the Desert Giant's hands and declared, "You have sworn your loyalty to me and shall follow me for the rest of your life. Since this golden sand is the Saint spirit core of a Desert Giant, I will grant it to you."
